All Bank branches are issuing duplicate FD receipts if the original is misplaced. You can get the details FD by visiting nearest branch with your Father's Passbook. You can approach the Branch Manager where the FD is placed with a request to issue duplicate receipt and complete the prescribed procedure. After getting duplicate FDR, you can close the same. If the FD is very old and is not linked to your father's SB account, get the details of branch from your father.
